So then, I could have: PS4 controller > BT dongle/USB wire > USB shield > Mega > Xbee > Xbee > Uno > H bridge > Tank motors. Would these go together, or should I look at other options? A much more robust setup that I was considering is to include an Arduino Mega, and 2x Xbee devices. H bridge, Tank body/wheels & Tamiya Dual Motor kit.

Are they all programatically the same? Or if I buy the official arduino one, will I not be able to use the library that they've got posted on their site?ģ) I originally was going to use the following parts: Uno, USB host shield, bluetooth dongle, PS4/PS3 controller, There are numerous solutions for connecting a DualShock 3 with Arduino but all use a USB shield and Dongle and I don't want to spend cash on them and want to achieve this only with the rn42.

There are 3 I've looked at, the Sainsmart one, the official Arduino one, and the one. Since the DualShock 3 pairs only to a particular mac address, how to store the rn42 mac address into the PS3 controller. Is this still the case? Does this issue also affect the PS4 controllers? Can anyone provide a link to a known working dongle?Ģ) I also am going to get a USB host shield for use with the dongle. I have both, so either is fine.ġ) After doing extensive research, there seemed to be a problem getting PS3 controllers to communicate via bluetooth with Arduino unless you used a specific type of BT dongle. Ideally, I'd like to control it using either a PS4 or PS3 controller. Thank you very much in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.Hi! I'm working toward building a tank-style rc car using my Arduino Uno. I thought it would be easier to start with makeblock products before going to pure arduino projects, but it’s in fact quite the opposite, due to the lack of informations/documentations/tutorials/steps to follow …ĭear and ( - Mr Seiun), could you chime in and help please? The dongle i have is this one, from TKJ Electronics (i tried turning off the board (mCore) before unplugging as well) Again, it has been paired with the arduino+shield before, and i tried the same procedure to pair with mBot/me-usb-host/dongle and the joystick (upload sketch with dongle on it, unplug the dongle, plug the joystick into me-usb-host, wait a few seconds, unplug joystick and re-plug dongle, turn joystick on … 4 flashing lights. The board contains Maxim MAX3421E USB host controller, 12MHz crystal, level shifters, resistors, capacitors, Reset button and USB A-type connector. The layout of Standard board is depicted on the right. –> So the first problem seems to be the PS3 joystick not pairing with the dongle/me-usb-host (4 lights flashing until the device turns itself off). Full-size shieldUSB Host Shield 2.0 exists in 2 configurations Standard and 3.3V. I followed these instructions, with this sketch (USB_Host_Shield_2.0). I tried the same setup/pair of PS3 joystick and a Bluetooth 2.4G dongle on an actual Arduino Uno board with a USB Host Shield and it works.

I can’t figure out how to get debug infos in the serial monitor either. I tried the TestUSBHost example in the makeblock library for Arduino IDE, but i don’t see anything happening. By the way, the creator of this project seems to work at Makeblock, or at least that’s what it says there (link from the instructable page).Ĭould someone help me to use this module? to see if it is receiving/transmitting? including PS3 controller, Xbox controller and Bluetooth enabled devices (SPP. I tried with an mBot anyway, with no success. This is the revision 2.0 of the USB Host Shield from CircuitsHome (NOTICE. Not enough informations to reproduce the project. The USB shield doesnt only work with PS3 controllers.

It’s also on the instructable website, however i don’t think it qualifies for an instructable. I havent included it, but you could change the Arduino code to have auto fire, use the right stick, or the buttons. USB Host Shield - implements a full-speed USB peripheral/host controller with your Arduino Overview The USB Host Shield contains all of the digital logic.

Game controllers: Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii, Xbox360. The same page keeps showing up (a post in this forum) and at first it looks promising, but again, it doesn’t really say much. The following device classes are supported by the shield: HID devices: keyboards, mice, joysticks, etc. I’m trying to use the Me USB Host using Arduino IDE, but can’t find documentation about how to proceed.Ī search on google, on this forum or on the makeblock main site doesn’t really help.
